Construction of Tram Bridge Structure Next to Pancevo Bridge – Beginning of Construction of New Sava Bridge Announced for 2022

The city architect of Belgrade, Marko Stojcic, recently announced the full reconstruction of the Pancevo Bridge, for which there’s an idea to be expanded with a tram bridge structure, and he also pointed out that the construction of a new Sava bridge was to begin in 2022.

– Studies of a potential expansion of the Pancevo Bridge are being prepared at the moment. The idea is for an additional structure for the tram bridge to be built next to it. This would meet the needs of the residents on the left coast of the Danube, because the idea is for the rail system to become the main public transport system – Stojcic told the “Vesti” channel, as reported by Beoinfo. As eKapija has already reported, this possibility is also envisaged in the plan of development of the rail systems in Belgrade.

He also announced the beginning of the construction of a new Sava bridge for 2022. In the future, it would extend into a tunnel that will connect the Danube and the Sava coasts and considerably change the traffic system in the city center, he said.



According to him, the plan is to also build a bridge across Ada Huja that would connect the outer main road tangent.

– Along with the bypass route around Belgrade, which is to be completed next year, that bridge is the most important project for the moving of the transit traffic. Also, the new bus station will start working by the end of the year, reaching full capacity next year. Following that, the construction of a new railway station is to begin in Block 42 – Stojcic announced.
