It is estimated that the inflation in Serbia will be reduced to around 8% by the end of the year, stated the governor of the National Bank of Serbia (NBS), Jorgovanka Tabakovic.

Opening the Finticipate Forum, Tabakovic said that the inflation was expected to drop to 14% by the end of June and added that it had been 14.8% in May.

– It is expected to return within the target band in mid-2024 and I am convinced that we will achieve that goal – the governor emphasized.

According to her, the NBS is constantly working on creating a stable business environment in the conditions of global uncertainty and, with its decisions, it has not instilled uncertainty in the lives of the citizens and the economy of Serbia.

– In the conditions of the pandemic, the energy crisis, the war in Ukraine, you cannot find any rash decisions made by the NBS – Tabakovic said.

As one of the examples, the governor said that the central bank had not reacted even to the inflation by suddenly increasing the interest rates, but that it had done so gradually.
