First Section of Morava Corridor to Open on Saturday

The first section of the Morava Corridor from Pojate to Krusevac, 16.5 kilometers long, will open for traffic on Saturday.

Traffic safety, development of the economy, tourism, are just some of the expectations that the people of Krusevac and the Rasina District have from the completed section of the Morava Corridor, which passes through Cicevac, Varvarin, Krusevac, and whose construction continues toward Trstenik, Vrnjacka Banja, all the way to Preljina. The 112-km corridor will connect the Belgrade-Nis highway near Pojate and the Milos Veliki highway near Preljina.

This digitized highway, as a project of strategic importance, will connect central parts of Serbia (around half a million residents) with the two most important road routes, Corridors 10 and 11, and have remarkable importance for the city of Krusevac, Mayor Jasmina Palurovic said for the Politika daily.

– With the opening of the modern route Pojate-Makresane, we are getting a connection with the highway. The construction of the eastern bypass route, which will unburden the city in terms of passenger and cargo traffic, is to follow as well. If we add to it the more attractive conditions for investors, the expansion of industrial zones and the tourism potentials, it will all additionally improve the city’s status on the map of Serbia. That is why the people of Krusevac have plenty of reason to be satisfied and an opportunity to use all the benefits that will be available to them – said Mayor Palurovic.
