Reconstructed Fetislam Fortress Opened at Official Ceremony

The reconstructed Fetislam Fortress has been opened at an official ceremony, along with a summer stage in Kladovo.

The Fetislam Fortress was raised in 1524 and is under the protection of the Institute for Protection of Cultural Monuments of Nis, and its reconstruction began three years ago thanks to the EU funds. Within the realization of the EU projects for cultural heritage and tourism, around EUR 1.3 million was set aside from EU funds for the reconstruction of the medieval Fetislam Fortress.

The head of the EU Delegation to Serbia, Emanuele Giaufret, said that he was satisfied that the European Union and the Government of Serbia had brought life back to the Fetislam Fortress through joint efforts and that it would celebrate its 500th anniversary the next year, but also enable Kladovo to show its great potentials, it is said on the website of the president of the Republic of Serbia.
