The new Public Invitation has also been opened for business solution propositions in all five fields of the Green Agenda for the Western Balkans: decarbonization (reduction of dependence on fossil fuels), circular economy (preservation of natural resources), reduction of environmental pollution, protection and preservation of nature and biodiversity, and establishment of sustainable systems of food supply and rural development. The invitation remains open until the end of 2026.
The awarded solutions were proposed by companies from the private and public sectors, civil society organizations, research institutions and local self-governments, and they were selected as the best ones among the 140 propositions sent in response to four public invitations during 2022.
– Today, we are here to award innovations and give recognition to the companies with the best ideas for the green transition of the Serbian economy. Thanks to the “EU for Green Agenda in Serbia” initiative, the 16 best solutions for the green transition of the Serbian economy have been selected – the EU ambassador and the head of the EU Delegation to Serbia, Emanuele Giaufret, said and added that Serbian companies were resourceful and creative enough to lead the country toward a healthier and greener future.
– Companies in Serbia have shown that they recognize the economic, social and ecological advantages of the green transition and that they are ready to take active part in it. In order for as many of those interested to get the opportunity to develop and implement their innovative “green” ideas, today we also opened a new, multi-year Public Invitation for the green transition of the economy and the society in Serbia – said Yakup Beris, the resident representative of the UNDP in Serbia.
