The members of the National Assembly of Serbia voted in favor of the 2023 Budget Proposal in principle. The budget is 7.8% higher compared to the current rebalance, and the deficit of 3.3% has been agreed with the IMF.

The budget received 152 “for” votes, of the 213 present MPs, 57 voted against, and four MPs didn’t vote. The MPs are voting on the proposed amendments. A total of 177 amendments to the budget were submitted.

The total planned budget revenues and income amount to RSD 1,843.4 billion, which is 7.8% more than this year, whereas the expenditures are planned in the amount of RSD 2,107.4 billion.

Yesterday, the MPs finished the discussion about the amendments, and the minister of finance, Sinisa Mali, said that, by voting for the budget, they would vote for preserving the living standard of the citizens of Serbia, considerable capital investments and fight against the energy crisis.
