Vesic: New Terminal to Open at Belgrade Nikola Tesla Airport by Summer Season

The company Vinci Airports, according to the concession agreement, has an obligation to reconstruct and extend the airport, and works worth around EUR 150 million are in progress, whereas the company’s obligation is to invest a total of around EUR 732 million, the minister of construction, transport and infrastructure of Serbia, Goran Vesic, said while visiting the works at the Belgrade Nikola Tesla Airport.

As he said, the new terminal will open by the summer season, which will also lead to less crowding at the airport.

– By the end of this year, the Belgrade Nikola Tesla Airport will have six million passengers, which is a better result than the one from 2019, which was a record-setting year – Vesic stated, as said on the ministry’s website.

The new building, in which the new terminal is located, as he said, will be fully finished by the end of the year.

Vesic noted that, upon the completion of the works, the capacity of the Belgrade Airport will be 15 million passengers, triple what it was before the signing of the concession agreement with Vinci, when there were slightly over five million passengers.

He also noted that, in addition to the new building, Vinci had installed an inserted runway, and that, upon the opening of the new terminal, the reconstruction of the old runway, which had never been reconstructed since 1962, would begin, providing the passengers with additional safety.

The minister pointed out that, upon the completion of the works, the problem of taxi drivers at the airport, one of the biggest problems, would be solved as well.
