According to the agency’s data, around two thirds of the energy spent in households in both Serbia and the EU are used for heating living spaces, that is, around 0.9 tons of oil equivalent (toe), or 10,500 kWH a year.
However, as pointed out, the structure of the energy sources used in households has an additional effect on the energy efficiency.
Households in Serbia secure around 40% of the heating energy from biomass and coal, and in the EU, it is around 15%, because in the Union, the biggest share belongs to the gas, using, as a rule, furnaces with a low efficiency quotient.
