The Ministry of Environment and Spatial Planning and the Capital Investment Fund of Vojvodina yesterday signed the first 120 agreements on financing of capital projects on the territory of the Province, totaling six billion dinars.

After he signed the agreements in the Government of Vojvodina, Minister of Environment and Spatial Planning Oliver Dulic said that the plan was that over 30,000 people be hired to work on implementation of those projects and added that the funds for the projects had been provided from the Government of Serbia's aid programme for the building industry.

- Out of 18 billion dinars that we have provided for these projects, 6 billion are planed to be spent on the territory of Vojvodina. Signing of these agreements will make it possible for 120 building sites in the Province to be opened as soon as tomorrow, and it will also enable employment of over 30,000 people - said Dulic.

According to his words, based on this project, about 50 educational institutions, 15 health centers, a large number of sports and cultural facilities and facilities for public purpose will be either built or renovated.

- The economic crisis has hit the building industry the most and we have introduced a package of measures that should be a kind of a new agreement with building companies. These measures have been completely successful and we can say that the state provided about 18 billion dinars this year, which should make it possible for building companies to survive and overcome the crisis - said Dulic.

Dulic added that he was sure that the projects would enable employment of tens of thousands of people in Serbia and that, in addition to building companies, the building materials production sector in Serbia would be rescued as well.

He reminded that the Law on active assistance to building industry had been adopted in July and that it envisaged an active participation of the state in investment projects of building companies in 2010 and 2011, as well as shorter public procurement procedures for construction projects.

Prime Minister of Vojvodina Bojan Pajtic said that Vojvodina's investment cycle in the previous four years was one of the kind in the previous few decades.

- Even in the conditions of the serious global financial crisis, this agreement will allow us to continue this type of investing, which facilitates the arrival of new investors, employment of a large number of people, and improvement of the living standard of citizens - Pajtic assessed.

The Prime Minister of Vojvodina said that there was almost no place in Vojvodina without a building site and added that about 2,000 kilometers of roads and five bridges had been either built or reconstructed, a new Vojvodina Emergency Center had been constructed, and many more capital projects were being implemented.
