The Secretariat for Environmental Protection of the City of Belgrade has adopted the decision determining that an environmental impact assessment of the project of the construction of an animal feed factory in Kovilovo is required.

The secretariat says that the reason for such a decision, considering the location of the project and its characteristics, is that it has been estimated that the production complex could potentially have a great impact on the environment, especially in cases of malfunctions.

The document says that there are already location requirements and a prepared preliminary design for this project.

The construction of this factory was announced last year as the most modern agricultural complex in this part of Europe.

Last summer, the preliminary design was amended and now envisages the construction of the factory in three, instead of five, phases.

In addition to the factory where animal feed will be produced by the method of the processing of the alfalfa, the complex will also feature farms, biogas power plants, new irrigation systems… The total investment is worth EUR 173 million.
