HBIS Serbia plans to ignite its blast furnace 1 in Smederevo on August 16, which was shut down on July 5 last year due to the pandemic and the current market situation, the company announced.

In the past 11 months, only blast furnace number 2 worked, which was, according to the statement, a good strategic decision at the time.

The current situation in the market has created favorable conditions for the ignition of blast furnace number 1, whose production volume will depend on market demands, according to HBIS.
