Air Serbia Establishes Flights to Rostov-on-Don

With the JU 676 flight of an Airbus A319 aircraft, Air Serbia has established direct flights on the new line between Belgrade and Rostov-on-Don. The Serbian national airline carrier will operate its fourth destination in the Russian Federation twice a week, Fridays and Sundays, Air Serbia announced.

The opening flight was welcomed traditionally with “water cannons” at the Platov International Airport, one of the newest Russian airports, which opened in 2017.

Known as the “Gates to the Caucasus”, Rostov-on-Don is one of the biggest cities of the European part of Russia and the political, cultural and economic center of this country’s south. The Serbian national airline carrier planned to establish an air service to Rostov-on-Don in June 2020, but it was postponed due to the global coronavirus pandemic.

– The new route from Rostov-on-Don to Belgrade is very important, because it stimulates the further development of international and local flights. Belgrade is the main transport center in Europe, whereas Platov has a well developed network of direct flights to the Russian regions – stated the executive director of the Platov International Airport, Alexander Serov.

Air Serbia says that the flight schedule on this line is designed so as to provide convenient connections with numerous cities from the Air Serbia network, such as – Athens, Bucharest, Istanbul, Larnaca, London, Ljubljana, Tivat, Paris, Podgorica, Prague, Sarajevo, Skopje, Thessaloniki, Tirana and Zurich.

A direct flight between Belgrade and Rostov-on-Don takes two hours and 50 minutes on average.
