Foreigners coming to Serbia in order to find employment will from now on be able to apply online for the D-type visa, for a longer stay of up to 180 days through the eKonzulat service, the Office for IT and eGovernment announced. This new electronic service was presented yesterday in the presence of the minister of foreign affairs, Nikola Selakovic, and the director of the Office for IT and eGovernment, Mihailo Jovanovic.

– The introduction of this service considerably facilitates the operations of diplomatic-consular representations of Serbia regarding visas, especially in the countries from which a large number of people come to Serbia to find employment – the press release says.

This kind of a visa can be sought by workers of all profiles that are scarce in Serbia, and engineers and other highly educated workers are expected to apply too. The services of eKonzulat are expected to be used by citizens of China, India, Bangladesh, Pakistan, Nepal, Turkey, Russia, Ukraine, Egypt and those who come to work on large infrastructural projects in Serbia. After the next phase of the development of the application, applications for other types of visas will be available the same way, electronically, based on the education, connecting families, ownership over real estate, medical treatment and medical care.
