Serbia and Portugal as Bases for Further Investments and Placement of Products

The minister of economy of Serbia, Andjelka Atanaskovic, has met with the secretary of state for internationalization at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Portugal, Eurico Brilhante Dias, to discuss the digital transformation of small and medium enterprises and how to draw Portuguese investors to Serbia.

The improvement of the economic cooperation of the two countries through clearly defined fields was discussed at the meeting, and they both agreed that there’s plenty of potential and that a lot could be done to improve the economic relations, especially considering the upcoming celebration of the anniversary of the establishment of bilateral relations, which is to take place next year.

Atanaskovic called Serbia a stable country with international credibility and a country attractive to companies which intend to realize investments in it and invited Portuguese investors to invest in the country.

The minister also proposed for the initiatives for the organization of business forums to be renewed through the chambers of commerce, because, as she pointed out, it is the best way for business people to find business partners.

Dias said that Portugal could be the base for the further investments and placement of products in Portuguese-speaking areas in Latin America and Africa and that he also saw Serbia as a base from which Portuguese investments could spill over into the countries of the Western Balkans and beyond in the region of Southeast Europe.
