Spatial-Urban Plans in Montenegro Not to be Prepared Exclusively According to Investors’ Purposes in the Future

Spatial-urban plans will no longer be prepared uncritically and exclusively according to investors’ purposes in the future, as concluded at a meeting between Montenegrin Prime Minister Zdravko Krivokapic and Minister of Ecology, Spatial and Urban Planning Ratko Mitrovic. Instead, they noted, the planning solutions will be based on strict compliance with all the legal procedures and the optimal relation between development and protection, which is to be based on a thorough analysis of the needs and the actual possibilities.

The determination to always take environmental standards into account while planning future spatial interventions in all areas protected on a national and an international level was confirmed at the meeting.

– Also, the need for coordinated activities of the ministries within the Government of Montenegro was emphasized, so that all the development activities would be based on the best planning solutions and strategies, which entails a multidisciplinary and interdisciplinary approach to all the topics of importance to the development – the government’s PR service announced.

During the conversation, it was emphasized that the current and the future planning documentation must be harmonized with the real capacities of the space and the imperative of its integral protection, which is the basic requirement of a sustainable development of Montenegro.
