MALI: Construction of Second Subway Line to Begin in 2023

The construction of the second line of the Belgrade Subway system should begin in 2023, as said at today’s session of the Task Force for the Realization of the Project of the Construction of the Belgrade Subway, as announced by the Ministry of Finance.

Serbian Finance Minister Sinisa Mali, who presided over the session, said that the works on the construction of the first line would begin in late 2021, whereas the construction of the second line was to begin in 2023, before the construction of the first one ends.

The first line is planned to open in 2028, whereas the second one should open in 2030.

It was also said that the works on the first line would begin with the construction of a depot in Makis and that the necessary activities toward the preparation of the terrain in Makisko Polje were being carried out, so that the works could begin in late 2021.
