Their goods do not wait on borders - who in Serbia has status of privileged importer/exporter

The adopted Customs Law is one of 38 formulated measures of the Serbian Government that should help realization of better competitiveness of Serbia in global market.

That legal act, as it was partially the case before, stipulates the procedures for acquiring the status of "authorized economic operator".

- The Law anticipates the institute of simplified procedures for import and export of goods, as well as the possibility of acquiring the status of authorized exporter – the Assistant Director of the Customs Administration, Borislav Injac, explains for eKapija.

According to his words, these procedures should make it possible for companies to do all the customs formalities faster. Concretely, the companies with such status do not have to deliver the goods for import or export to the authorized customs office. Instead, the customs control is carried out in the factory.

- All economic subjects interested in obtaining some of these licenses should submit a request to the Customs Administration, along with all required documentation. The Customs Administration has 60 days to process the request and make the decision on whether to grant the status to the applicant.

So far, five companies in Serbia have acquired the right to use the simplified procedures when importing goods, while big number of them also applied for privileged export.

According to Injac, the trend is that companies first decide to apply for the status of privileged importer and then for the status of privileged exporter.

Hemofarm, Ball Packaging, Toza Marković Kikinda, Dairy Šabac and U.S. Steel (import procedure) are the companies that meet the conditions of the Customs Administration.

Injac points out that several requests are still being processed and that the general interest of entrepreneurs is huge.
