Serbia's delegation in Kuwait - negotiations on modernization of tanks

The state delegation led by Prime Minister Mirko Cvetković has reached the agreement in Kuwait on improvement of very poor interstate economic cooperation and, for that purpose, Dragan Šutanovac, the Minister of Defense of Serbia, will soon come to that country to talk about intensification of military-economic cooperation.

With smaller oscillations, the military-economic cooperation has a constantly significant place (tank M-84) in the exchange of goods between the two countries. As we find out, the forms of cooperation and modernization of aforementioned tanks, which could be worth few hundred million euros, will be very soon discussed between Šutanovac and his Kuwaiti counterparts.

- We can not tell anything about that now. Cooperation is agreed at three levels. First of all, we will do our best to increase the exchange of goods, of which value in both directions does not exceed 1m EUR. An exhibition will be organized in Kuwait in autumn, and that will be the opportunity for us to present our food industry and see what can be offered to that market - Minister Rasim Ljajić told Blic yesterday (March 16, 2010), after the talks in Kuwait were ended.

According to him, the state delegation of Serbia is backed in its idea that our building complex be hired in Kuwait as a subcontractor. The companies from Serbia have already built leading commercial facilities such as Doha and Failaka ports, breakwater Salmi with yacthing club, water towers 187 meters high with the capacity of 9,000 cubic meters, which became the symbol of Kuwait, air bases, Bedouin villages, ministerial complex worth 172m USD, and they also worked on underground water reservoirs.

- During the talks about participation of their capital in the investments in capital works, as well as about privatization process in Serbia, the Kuwaiti Development Fund was presented the project for Belgrade's railway hub. Since the meeting of the Mixed committee has not been held for 30 years, the first one will be held in Belgrade prior to end of June. We need to find the market that is not hit by the crisis - says Ljajić.
