Yacht and island in one?!

Wally Hermes Yachts is currently building a very interesting luxury yacht - WHY, of which specific characteristic is that it can be transformed into an island.

This vessel is being built in Ancona and, judging by all the available information, it will be a very expensive floating toy. Its selling price will amount to about 200m EUR.

Designers unveiled plans for a "moving island" at the Abu Dhabi Yacht Show, and it should resolve the dilemma of each billionaire - whether to buy a luxury yacht or a personal island.

This ultramodern, three-floor motor yacht is 58 meters long and 38 meters wide, and it turns into island when it reaches its destination. The 200sq meter master area covers the entire third floor, while the guest space, incorporating five bedrooms, spans the second tier. The common space, at the bottom of the ship, has a 25-meter swimming pool, cinema, music room, dining room, and what the designers call "a perfect 30m beach".

In addition to comfort, the craft's creators are keen that their yacht is environmentally friendly, and anticipate the yacht generating 500kw of solar energy a day through 900sq metres of photovoltaic panels covering its roof and hull.

- Everybody's dream is to live on an island, in complete freedom, without constraint, with the independence that only self sufficiency can provide. A yacht offers the freedom to move, but does not have the space of a property. WHY has it all: space, stability, movement, independence, peace - said Wally's president Luca Bassani Antivari.
