Air Berlin has no interest in JAT

The Government of Serbia expressed the interest in privatization of JAT. However, Air Berlin is not interested in becoming strategic investors of that company - Aleksandra Miler, the spokesperson of German airliner Air Berlin, told Danas.

The company's Director for Global Transportation, Matijas fon Randou, was a member of the delegation of German companies that visited Serbia. He was presented the proposal that Air Berlin becomes JAT's strategic partner. However, although that company used to be interesting in acquisition of JAT, people in German airliner reject the possibility of becoming either owners or strategic partners of Serbian national air transportation company.

- The region of East Europe is an interesting market for Air Berlin since it offer prospects for further development of companies, and it is the same with the market of Serbia. Air Berlin finds the visit to Belgrade an excellent opportunity for us to gain better insight in the situation in Serbian politics and economy, as well as to exchange the positions with the representatives of Serbian companies and politicians - says Miler.

By the way, after the meeting with Serbian Government, the Head of the Delegation of German entrepreneurs, Klaus Mangold, announced that Serbia and Germany would soon be connected with another airliner. People in Air Berlin say that they are not the company that is going to establish that line. That transportation company will enter Serbian market through airliner Fly Niki (24% of which is owned by Air Berlin), which will start flying between Belgrade and Vienna on February 1st, but it will not introduce new lines.

- Air Berlin and its Austrian partner Fly Niki will include Vienna-Belgrade flights in their offer in February - Miler points out.
