Through its national development aid, Slovakia will transfer its experiences and help creation of the system of ecological agricultural production in Serbia in order for the European Commission to put it on the list of the third countries whose bio-products do not need to have additional certificates.
According to Slovakian media, implementation of the project named "Development of Ecological Agricultural Production System on European Level" will start on October 7 and 8 in Novi Sad.
The project is run by the Agricultural Institute from Bratislava, while its Serbian partner in implementation of the project is the Ministry of Agriculture.
Within the scope of aforementioned project, Serbian legislation in that field will be brought in accord with European one, the authorized institutions for ecological production will be prepared for admission into European Union, while the inspection teams will be trained and accredited to act in accordance with European standards for bio-products.
Slovakia has made the decision to co-finance that project through its development aid because it sees great potentials for bio-production in Serbia, which already has highly developed agriculture.
So far, Serbian bio-production has not been brought in accord with the EU regulations, so that the export of these products to the markets of EU, even when they are of high quality, is very difficult.
