- European Union will invest about 20m EUR in construction of long-distance power line between Leskovac and Greece – said Žozep Ljoveras, the Head of the delegation of European Commission to Serbia.

- This region has plenty of potentials, but local companies require energy. New long-distance power line will connect Leskovac with other regions in Serbia, Greece and Albania – said Ljoveras in Leskovac on the occasion of his visit to long-distance power line Niš-Leskovac.

Long-distance power line Niš-Leskovac should be put in operation at the end of June. That long-distance power line of 400 kV is 40.5 km long and 6.9m EUR have been invested in it.

Construction of long-distance power line from Leskovac to Greece, via Vranje and Skopje, will be resumed in the second phase of works, and the construction, according to the Ljoveras, should commence soon.

The Minister of Energy of Serbia, Petar Škundrić, said that the new high-voltage long-distance power line would permanently contribute to stabilization of transfer of electricity in Serbia and stronger positioning of Serbia as the most significant electricity transfer knot in this part of Europe. As he estimated, that will enable quicker development of the Leskovac, Niš and Vranje basins.

Total of 2,000 tons of various equipment have been installed in the long-distance power line with the highest voltage in Serbia, and the contractor was the consortium comprising three Serbian companies - "Energoprojekt oprema", "ABS Minel" and "Elektromontaža".
