Russia and Ukraine reached agreement on transportation of gas

The prime ministers of Russia and Ukraine, Vladimir Putin and
Julija Timošenko, have reached the agreement on transportation of Russian gas
and deliveries to European countries should start again soon.
- Transportation of gas to Europe by the gas pipeline through Ukraine should
commence again soon – said Putin after the meeting with Julija Timošenko.
As the people from Kremlin announced, Russian “Gazprom” and Ukrainian "Naftogas"
should formalize the agreement, which will be immediately followed by the
commencement of gas deliveries.
It is also stated that the prices of gas transit will remain the same in 2009.
International meeting whose subject was the problem of gas supply to Europe was held on January 17th, 2009, in Moscow, but no agreement was reached on that occasion.
The conference was attended by the representatives of European Union, as well as by Julija Timošenko and Vladimir Putin.
High representatives of nine countries took part in the meeting. One of these countries was Serbia and it was represented by Prime Minister Mirko Cvetković, while the delegation of Serbia included Petar Škundrić, the Minister of Energy, and Dušan Bajatović, the President of "Srbijagas".
