This is the beginning of the project within which 69 such charging stations and another four ultra-fast electric car charging stations should be installed in both countries.
The project worth EUR 4.28 million is for the most part financed from the EU funds (80%). Hrvatski Telekom is supposed to provide the software platform for the charging stations, whereas Renovatio is to provide the stations in Romania.
The majority of the EU funds (EUR 3.1 million) will be invested in the charging stations in Romania.
The charging station networks in Romania and Croatia will be installed as part of the European transport network TEN-T, which covers the Mediterranean (Croatia), the Rhine-Danube area and eastern Europe (Romania).
The project received financial support from the European Commission in July 2017, together with the project NEXT-E, within which a network of electric vehicle charging stations should be established in six countries of central and eastern Europe.
These two projects entail the installation of 59 charging stations in Hungary, 58 in Croatia, 40 in Romania, 38 in the Czech Republic, 32 in Slovenia and 25 in Slovakia in 2018 and 2019.
