According to unofficial information provided by "Energyobserver", secret talks with the representatives of Russian Electric Power Company (RAO UES), led by Anatolij Čubajs, Russian Minister of Privatization in the time of Jeljcin, about privatization of Electric Power Company of Serbia (EPS) last for six months.
Russian partner is interested in becoming the owner of entire EPS, including all of its production and power supply capacities.
"Energyobserver’s" source, who insisted on staying anonymous, says that it is the main reason why the announcement of tender for strategic partner is late.
According to "Energyobserver", the main insider of the Russians and the mediator in the negotiations is a young expert for steam power plants who used to work for former Yugoslav Electric Power Company (JUGEL) as a member of EPS’ staff.
The Russians explained to Serbian side that they were against the tender sale and that they insisted on the sale by means of direct negotiations, the same as in the case of Petroleum Industry of Serbia.
