Serbia invites Russian Rosnano to build nanocenter in the country

The minister in charge of innovation and technological development in the Government of the Republic of Serbia has invited the Russian state nanotechnology corporation Rosnano to consider investing in innovative startups in Serbia.

He pointed out after a meeting with the company's head, Anatoly Chubais, that Serbia was interested in initiating talks with Russian partners about a potential joint construction of a modern nanocenter in Serbia.

– The nanocenter would deal in research, production and implementation of nanotechnology-based products in the industry. Russia's experiences and technologies in this field would be of great importance for us – Popovic said.

He pointed out that the Government of the Republic of Serbia is stimulating the strengthening of science and the business sector by taking concrete measures, aiming to have scientific research in the field of nanotechnologies implemented in a concrete manner in the industry, to the benefit of the state and the citizens.

– Our future policy of development in the field of nanoscience and nanotechnology will have the task of encouraging industrial companies, as well as small and medium enterprises, to establish a stronger interaction with science and scientific research organizations – Popovic said.

Chubais explained that, through its venture capital funds, the Rosnano corporation invested considerable funds in the development of innovations and new technologies in Russia, China, India, Iran, Israel and the USA.

He pointed out that Rosnano had 15 nanocenters in various countries, with 600 startups developing innovative solutions for the implementation of nanotechnologies in the industry.
