Today, the Government of Serbia adopted the Proposal of the Law on Electronic Document, Electronic Identification and Trusted Services in Electronic Commerce, which allow electronic documents to be recognized as paper. As announced, the Law governs electronic signature, electronic stamp, timestamp, electronic delivery and electronic document storage.

This will, as it has been said, enable easy and cheaper use of qualified electronic certificates, exchange of documentation in electronic form and destruction of paper documents when qualified electronic reservation services are provided.

Adoption of this law, as it was added, is the basis for modern electronic administration in Serbia, which will enable citizens and business faster and more efficient services and easier communication with national institutions from home and through mobile phones.

It is added that adoption of a law on electronic documents, electronic identification and trust services in electronic commerce is the first step in improving regulation of electronic business.

After this law, adoption of 17 bylaws governing e-identification, e-delivery, e-preservation, e-signature and other services of trust in e-commerce and the establishment of a network of trusted service providers will follow.
