The American magazine Wine Enthusiast has published an article about rakija, describing it as an important segment of the cultural heritage and “the essence of the Serbian being”.

As the Tourism Organization of Belgrade reported, journalist Kristin Vukovic describes rakija in the article through Momo Kapor's words.

– In rakija is the essence of the Serbian being—first joy, then celebration of taste, then anger, compassion, the feeling that the world is good and that all those who drink it are friends – Vukovic cites the Serbian author.

She provided an overview of rakija's history, the etymology of its name and its usage through centuries.

Tasting rakija in several restaurants in Belgrade, she described the way the drink was made from various types of fruit and how it combined with food.

The TOB hosted Vukovic in Belgrade, and Director Miodrag Popovic says that people in Serbia treat rakija as a medicine.

He says that the medical use of rakija dates way back in the past and that, today, it is inevitable in celebrations of all kinds.
