The City of Vienna will get EUR 120,000 found in the Danube, which, according to the witnesses, were thrown in the river by an elderly man.

The money, which was thrown by the man, who allegedly seemed confused, was found in December 2015, Eurocomm-PR reported.

In early 2017, the period of one year in which the potential owner was able to claim the money expired and the case was officially closed after 18 months of inspection.

The press release says that several people came forward during the investigation, but that none of them were either the finder of the owner of the money.

The award will not be paid to the finder, and the money will go to the budget of the City of Vienna. It is not yet known what the city will use the money for.
