Macedonian companies that produce and distribute food products must implement HACCP system by the end of this year. According to the Law on food safety, that is a legal obligation for all companies.
Although implementation started few years ago, the percentage of companies
which introduced that system amounts to 3.8.
According to the authorized people in the Food Directorate, unless companies start the production security process within one year, they may be sanctioned by the audit companies.
One of the conditions for export of Macedonian products to foreign markets is HACCP system. The system would enable easier export of products from FYROM. As far as introduction of this system is concerned, the only two countries in the region that are worse than Macedonia are Bosnia and Herzegovina and Albania.
