The two leading Japanese car makers, Toyota and Nissan, announced today they would recall over three million cars worldwide due to an airbag malfunction, which is claimed to be the cause of eight deaths so far.
Toyota said in a statement that the previous recall would be expanded to include additional 2,860,000 cars, Nissan announced a recall of 198,000 cars, while 120,000 cars will be recalled by Mitsubishi, France-Presse reports.
As it was announced, Takata airbags installed in the models affected by the recall are sometimes activated during the drive, which can lead to injuries to the driver and passengers, the French news agency underlines.
