Finance Minister Dusan Vujovic said Monday (10 February 2015) that the Government of Serbia was working on an action plan for enterprises undergroing restructuring which called for closing the enterprises that did not stand a chance and collecting bids for all others, stressing that the public sector was employing 40% of all employed people in Serbia at the moment, much more than any other sector.
- Public administration reform is very important not only because of the need for reducing expenses, but also for more efficient functioning of public administration and more equal deployment of staff - Vujovic said in an interview for the February issue of BIZLife magazine.
According to Vujovic, reorganization of the state and strategic downsizing should produce two effects: cost reduction and private sector promotion.
- Our aim is not to dismiss people but to create new jobs, especially for those with the knowledge valorized by the market, such as engineers, innovators and entrepreneurs - said the finance minister.
