MILER: Turkish stream is the only alternative to South Stream
After the talks with the VP of EC in charge for energy union, Maros Stefkevic, Miler said that European partners were informed there are no other options and that it is up to them to set essential infrastructure, starting from Turkish-Russian border.
-Our partners have, in the best case, a few years to carry it out. Schedule is very thick. In order to meet deadlines, works on constriction of the new section of the gas pipeline for EU should start today. On the contrary, these quantities of gas can find their way to other markets as well – Miller said.
According to him, risks with respect to gas transport through Ukraine this winter will stay due to financial limitation.
-Ukraine failed to buy Russian gas in sufficient quantities in November-December period and significantly decreased its reserves in underground warehouses – Miller explained.
- We are creating our strategy and future tactical moves, taking into account plans of EU to set up Energy Union. This represents new challenges and new options for us. We hope that set up of the Energy Union will not by any means lead to decrease in stability of fuel supplies – Miller said.
