Trains will develop speed of 120 km per hour from Belgrade to Pancevo - Pancevo railroad modernization started

Today, in the presence of the head of the Russian state-owned railways, Vladimir Jakunjin and VP of the Government of Serbia, Zorana Mihajlovic, at the railway stop Krnjaca, set up of new lines started within modernization in line with special Russian technology, which will enable train speed of 120 km per hour.

It is the within the Pancevo railroad funded through the Russian loan and Jakunjin ten expressed satisfaction with works and stressed out it is very important project for both parties.


Jakunjin said that therefore the project is "under personal control of the president of Serbia, Tomislav Nikolic" whom he met, as he said, earlier this morning.


He reminded this year’s floods slowed down the works and that it was compensated and that the project will meet its deadline.


Mihajlovic said the trains will go the Belgrade-Pancevo railroad with speed of 120 km per hour and that the works will be completed before the planned deadline and this is the end of 2016.

She said the Railways of Serbia will have a serious period of modernization and that she believes that trains at Serbian railroads will not develop speed of 40 km per hour.

Reconstruction, construction and modernization of the second railway line at 15 km long section, Pancevacki most (Pancevo Bridge)- Pancevo Main station, at the railway main road Belgrade Center - Pancevo Main station- Vrsac – governmental border with , Romania is the first project of the Russian state-owned export loan for Serbian railways modernization whose implementation started March 25, 2014.


The project totals USD 91 m, USD 78 m of which provided through the Russian loan and some USD 13m , i.e. Serbia provides 15% of loan.

Russian RZD International set up by the Russian state-owned railways is the contractor and it is n charge of the implementation of the Russian loan for railway modernization in Serbia.
