The Swiss eat most chocolate
The chocolate market does not know about crisis. This candy consumption has increased by 7 % during the past five years.
The biggest chocolate consumers in Europe are the Swiss, 12 kg annually per
capita while Germans on the average, annually eat 11,6 kg.
The French are fifth-ranked at the list of European chocolate consumers. Last
year, the French ate 389.900 tons of chocolate, i.e. 6,64 kg annually per
capita.
Dark chocolate is very popular among the French consumers, 30% of total consumption goes to dark chocolate while in EU the rate is only 5%. A total of 80% of the French admitted that they eat chocolate at least once a week.
As of today until November 3, Paris is the capital of chocolate, a host of 20th chocolate saloon.
Since 1994, when the first fair of this kind opened in the world, 6,4 million of chocolate fans visited the event in Paris.
