Serbia has its first unicorn. Ominimo has closed a Series B investment round with the participation of the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) Investment Branch, reaching a market value of USD 1.6 billion.

Ominimo is developing next-generation insurance products using artificial intelligence, advanced mathematical models and data analysis to more accurately assess risk, determine policy prices and build a higher-quality insurance portfolio.

Ominimo was founded by Dusan Komar and Laszlo Horvat from Serbia, together with Dennis Weinbender from Germany. They launched their business in 2024, and in a short time expanded it to four European markets. In the next year, they plan to enter six more EU markets, as well as the United States.

With a market value of USD 1.6 billion, Ominimo has become the most valuable insurance company in the former Yugoslavia and ranks among the most valuable companies in Serbia in general.

In less than two years, Ominimo has reached almost a million users and an annual business volume of more than USD 350 million, making it the fastest growing technology company in the insurance sector in the world.

In just over a year, since the Series A investment round in April 2025, Ominimo’s value has increased from USD 230 million to 1.6 billion, which is almost seven times more.

Today, the company employs just over 100 people, two thirds of whom are data scientists and software engineers. The majority of the team is made up of experts from Serbia who work in Ominimo’s development centers in Novi Sad and Belgrade.
