Domestic startups present world-class solutions – African fintech leaders arriving in Belgrade

Serbian startups successfully presented themselves at the GITEX Global and North Star fairs in Dubai, where Serbia was a partner country, showing that domestic technological solutions are increasingly conquering the world, while at the same time foreign companies, including fintech startups from Africa, announced their arrival in Serbia and cooperation with our experts and startup ecosystem.

Technological solutions of domestic companies have aroused great interest of foreign partners, which confirms Serbia’s increasingly strong position on the global innovation map, it was said in the second episode of the “Cadez Talk” show broadcast on Euronews Serbia, dedicated to the participation of domestic startups at the fair in Dubai.

As Mihajlo Jovanovic, Director of the Office for Information Technology and Electronic Government, pointed out in a conversation with Marko Cadez, President of the Chamber of Commerce of Serbia (CCIS), Serbia today has modern infrastructure capacities, including two supercomputers of the latest generation, which have enabled the development of a unique ecosystem for the application of artificial intelligence.

– We are launching an initiative with the CCIS to include small and medium-sized enterprises in this system, in order to provide them with access and encourage further development of innovations – stressed Jovanovic, according to the CCIS website.

Cadez pointed out that numerous Serbian startups had participated in the fair and presented their solutions - from security technologies and energy management, to applications based on artificial intelligence that accelerate business processes.

Dusan Obradovic, CEO of the SeeUp accelerator, says that, in cooperation with the CCIS and CDT, they support startups in their most mature phase and emphasizes that they agreed at the Dubai fair that Visa, or rather the African Visa Accelerator, which has 88 fintech startups, would bring the best five to Belgrade in April.

– We will get the best of the best fintechs from Africa. Africa has nine “unicorns,” and eight of them are from fintech – said Obradovic.
