Bojanine vode to become new ski center - Construction of new paths, hotels and welness centers planned in Suva planina

Serbia could get another ski center at Suva planina. This destination close to Nis could become a paradise for recreation fans, mountain climbers and it will get wellness facilities with the planned investments. New hotels, ski paths and a ski lift will be constructed here. Infrastructure development will enable a weekend settlement construction.

Suva planina and Bojanine vode getaway, apart from intact nature, could offer a modern ski center of smaller capacity with an offer of wellness and ethno facilities.

With the recent adoption of the Detailed regulation plan of the Bojanine vode ski center on 157 ha as well asof the part of the tourist and recreation complex with the same name, the City of Nis made the first step in the destination development.

The City administration wants to attract the guests to come for recreation mountain-climbing and camping and sportsmen for preparation. Apart from that, there is an option of health tourism development.

The Bojanine vode gateway is 25 kmfar from Nis and 15 km far from Niska banja.

Zoran Marijanovic, director at the Nis skiing club who has been working for 30 years now on tourism development on Suva planina says for eKapija that the future tourist and recreation offer despite the club’s and local associations’ big efforts, is not developed enough and even less organizes and connected.

Today, the tourist offer primarily relies on school tourism with the Children’s resort at the Divljan settlement, Bojanine vode tourist and recreation complex, Gornji and Donji Dusnik settlements and to some extent to sport, events, trip and hunting tourism.

According to our collocutor’s opinion, weekend settlements in Gornji and Donji Dusnik which would offer environmenta land ethno pleasure with domestic food would revive.

Recreation, health and medicaltourism

At the Bojanine vode locality, at the elevation of 700-1300 m, there is a mountain climbing house, Studenac, with55 beds and ruins of the Bojanine vode mountain climbing house which burnt, the Sokolov kamen ski path with the staring elevation of 809 m, height difference of 363 m, average slope of 43%, ski lift length of 772 m and an hourly capacity of 900 skiers. There is a ski lift for kids and beginners nearby.

The complex has partially built traffic network which relies on local road direction Bojanine vode–GornjaStudena. According to defined natural values and current development of material basis, tourist offer of Suva planina will be based on: the most valuable spatial areas such as Mosor,Sokolov kamen–Trem–Smrdan, Divna gorica, Valozje and Rubovac–Cerje (Rebrine).

It is possible to develop sports,events, recreational, rural, hunting, environmental and fishing tourism at Suvaplanina.

Apart from that, an option of health tourism development through organization of combined spa and mountain stay opens. Therefore, it is necessary to brand Suva planina and the Bojanine vode name, they add.

Investments in infrastructure andaccommodation capacities

In the Bojanine vode sports and recreation center, reconstruction of the existing mountain climbing house which will be a visitor center (one of the two points, the other one will be in thebottom), construction of new hotel with additional facilities, expansion of the existing ski path for skiers’ safety and construction of smaller recreation ski path for kids and beginners is planned.

Reconstruction of the existing Bojanne vode-Gornja Studena local road and the construction of a new Bojanine vode-Ploce new road along the existing ground road is planned.

Within the complex, it is planned to complete internal roads system so that in functional and technical sense an access is enabled to commercial facilities and at the same time the system will be completed in the form of parking space which enables maximal space for sports and recreation.

Within the Plan, there is a starting point of the existing ski lift with the capacity of some 900 lifts of skiers per hour. Introduction of another ski lift with about the same capacity is planned so the number would increased to 1.800 skiers’ lifts per hour.

The ski paths starting point is aspace which directly connects accommodation complex of ski center and satisfies customers’ requests for comfortable leave and return from the skiing area. Inthe summer time, the space will be developed in a landscape sense.

It takes USD 81mil for the locationinfrastructure equipping.

Project worth EUR 12,5 mil ready for European funds

Zoran Marijanovic reveals for us that the Nis skiing club in cooperation with 14 organizations developed a project which comprises a big plan for development of Suva planina and the region - the adrenaline sports concept in the Malca-Sokolov kamen-Niska banja triangle. The project totals EUR 12,5 mil and Bojanine vode takes the centralposition.

Since they are planning to offer the project to the European funds, the Regional developmental agency, Jug, will help them in that.
