Energy-efficient skyscraper in Dubai - Citizen of Belgrade proposes solution for tower of UAE Faculty of Architecture
Jovan Kocic from Belgrade, who lives in Shanghai, has drawn preliminary designs for an energy-efficient skyscraper of the Faculty of Architecture in Dubai, for which he won an award at the international architectural competition AC-CA.
His designs place emphasis on interaction, that is, a reaction that this facility provokes from the observers. The building exudes simplicity, while its shape - that of the letter A - clearly points to its purpose - 'A' stands for 'Architecture'.
The design of this tower is adapted to natural lighting, natural impacts, human scale, and architectural culture.
This skyscraper is vertically divided into the following zones: reception zone, administrative zone, academic zone, resting and relaxation zone, zone for professional practice... All zones are sized proportionally to the number of people using them, so the academic zone is the largest.
Thanks to a high level of natural lighting, the need for artificial lights is significantly reduced, and so is the need for power consumption.
In order to compensate for the lack of water in that location, the building is equipped with innovative solutions such as canals alongside the edges of the facility which serve to collect precipitation water for technical purposes.
