Montenegro to get first aqua park - Preparations commenced for Water Town construction above Top Hill in Budva

(an illustration) On Friday (March 7th), the Ministry of Sustainable Development of Montenegro issued the town planning and technical requirements for the preparation of project documentation for the construction of the first aqua park in that country, at Toplis Hill above Budva.
A computer animation presented back in 2006 may finally become a reality now. According to the town planning and technical requirements, the aqua park should occupy 4,900 square meters of the total of 10 hectares that will be rented by the Budva municipality for a period of three decades.

- Entrance to the aqua park will be from Topliski Put Street. The plan is to build several swimming pools with accompanying facilities - coffee shops, restaurants, showers, locker rooms. All swimming pools will feature water attractions, while the pools for kids will be separated from the others. The total projected surface area of swimming pools and accompanying facilities is 2,000 and 2,900 square meters, respectively - it is said in the document listing the requirements.

The story about the Vodeni grad (Water Town) aqua park began in 2006, when the municipality of Budva rented a land to Cyprus-based Numerico Trade Limited for a period of 20 years. However, this project was abandoned shortly afterwards, and the municipality assumed the obligation to repay that company's loan of EUR 1.6 million.
