What is the future of 12 military airprts in Serbia - privatization, investments, development...
Twelve airports from the list of the military property will most probably change owners in 2007.
The following airports will be offered for sale: "Lisičji jarak" in Belgrade, "Bojnik", "Kovin", "Mira" in Leskovac, "Ponikve" in Užice, as well as airports in Niš, Pančevo, Sjenica, Glibovac, Smederevska Palanka, Sombor, Trstenik and Zrenjanin.
One of more attractive airports is "Lisičji jarak". Due to its location and large surface, it is interesting to the potential buyers, although it belongs to C category. Total of 165.27 ha, with two runways, are for sale. The length of one runway is 1,200 meters, whereas the other is 900 m long.
One of the most attractive airports from so-called A category is situated in Kovin. It has two runways - a concrete one 2,200 m long and a grass runway 2,000 meters long.
(Airport in Zrenjanin)
There is also a part of complex of airport "Sombor" with about 150 ha. The plan is that that part be sold, so that the existing airport could be used for civilian purposes and so that it could become the nearest airport for the businessmen from Hungary.
All aforementioned complexes will soon be on the tender for which all interested in the Administration for Infrastructure will be able to apply. The wish is that the bidders be the local authorities, with which the exchange for apartments could be arranged. If these airports are bought by the private owners, there is a suspicion that they could change their purpose.
