Lidl obtains location permit for hypermarket in Subotica

German retailer Lidl will most probably request a building permit for its supermarket in Subotica this spring. A location permit has already been issued for that facility, whereas the construction commencement date will depend on the retailer's ambition to open all planned stores in several cities of Serbia at the same time, RTV YUeco has reported.

Few weeks ago Lidl representatives were staying in Subotica to talk about the implementation of their investment. People at the City Construction Service of Subotica voiced their expectation that Lidl would apply for a building permit and start construction in the spring 2014.

People at the Regional Chamber of Commerce don't expect Lidl's arrival to drastically affect prices as a consequence of the market competition. In the opinion of experts from that chamber, in order for something like that to happen, it is necessary that several store chains like Lidl come to our market at the same time.
