Ikea starts building department store in Zagreb

Main above-ground construction works on an Ikea department store in Zagreb commenced today. This facility, which will offer over 9,000 home improvement products, is expected to open next summer.

Once opened, Ikea Hrvatska will have about 300 employees, Croatia's daily Poslovni Dnevnik reports.

Construction of the Ikea department store in Croatia is entrusted to Strabag, which won a contract for this HRK 165 million (EUR 21.83 million) job by tender.

Strabag already has experience in managing the construction of Ikea department stores around the world. The company has been operating in Croatia for years, and it participated in a number of large projects during that time.
