Marriott in Belgrade opens to guests in 2014 - Hotel construction to kick off April 1st
As it was announced earlier, the capital city of Serbia should get the first Marriott hotel by the year's end, but it is most likely that it won't happen because the work in Vasina Street has not started yet. Although the construction of a new, modern city hotel in Vasina Street should be quick, building permit, like in most of the cases involving the construction of larger facilities, is still being awaited. However, investors hope that workers will be able to begin working on the site on April 1st, as the building permit is expected to be issued in some fifteen days.
People at PSP Farman Beograd, a local member of the PSP Farman holding, say that all designs are done.
- Given that the planning standards for the central city zone are very strict, we must keep our facility within the current size limits - says Ana Ristic, marketing manager at PSP Farman Beograd.
- That means that there will be no annexes to the building, but only serious operations on the interior. It will take 12 months to complete all the works.
However, that does not mean that the new building will look like the former headquarters of the Jugodrvo company because, as investors say, it will get a completely new facade.
This is an investment worth EUR 25 million, and the hotel is expected to employ about 100 people once completed.
The building will have seven floors and two underground stories. The new hotel Courtyard by Marriott will have four stars. Courtyard by Marriott Belgrade City Center Hotel, which is its full name, will feature 114 rooms, lobby and a reception desk on the ground floor, restaurant with the view of the central city square on the first floor, as well as a cafe bar, club and a meeting hall. There will also be a gym on one of the underground floors.
