Russians interested in buying Jagodina Hotel

Businessmen from a company from Petrograd, Russia are interested in buying Jagodina Hotel, one of the most beautiful hotels on Corridor X.

- Russians first asked us to send them documentation, which we did, and then announced they were coming to Serbia this month - Dragan Simic, director general of Jagodina Hotel, said to Tanjug news agency on Wednesday.

Simic added that "considering it is a sale by tender, Russians will most probably negotiate the terms of sale with the Privatization Agency, pursuant to law."

The hotel has 156 rooms, several suites, swimming pool, congress hall, and it used to feature Josip Broz Tito's residence. Milos Konstantinovic, the architect who designed Jagodina Hotel, won an award for the best work of architecture in Serbia in 1979 for this hotel.

Jagodina Hotel is part of the former tourism and hospitality company Palace, once one of the largest of the kind in Serbia, which has been privatized. This building is currently under restructuring. As its managers assess, about EUR 2.5 million are required to renovate the hotel and raise the quality of service.
