(Srem hotel, Stara Pazova)
After an eight-year dispute, the building of Srem hotel has been returned to the possession of the municipality of Stara Pazova. What follows is a restoration in accordance with the regulations of the Cultural Heritage Preservation Institute.
At an extraordinary press conference, which was summoned by Stara Pazova Mayor Goran Jovic and held in the premises of the municipal administration, the citizens of Stara Pazova heard a news that they had been waiting to hear for a long time. Namely, a court dispute between the municipality of Stara Pazova and Centrosrem Promet, lasting for more than eight years, has finally been ended. Stara Pazova has won the dispute and the building of Srem hotel is officially returned to its possession.
- I am very happy and content that one of the most beautiful and oldest cultural and artistic buildings is again a property of the municipality. The pre-war owners of the hotel, the Petrovic family, have filed a restitution request. Until the end of the restitution process, the municipality will act as the owner of the facility - said the mayor of Stara Pazova.
The former hotel Srem will be restored to its original luster and condition, in the way prescribed by the Cultural Heritage Preservation Institute. The building will again become a pride of all citizens of Stara Pazova.
Mayor Jovic stressed that people at Centrosrem Promet had been fair in the court process, adding that they had acted in accordance with law. If the restitution process ends in favor of the Petrovic family, the municipality will talk with them to leave the facility in the possession of the municipality and let it keep its historical value in the future.
