Serbia to invest EUR 170 million in construction industry in 2012

Minister of Environment, Mining and Spatial Planning Oliver Dulic announced that approximately €170 million would be invested in the Serbian construction industry in 2012.

Dulic told Beta news agency that 8 out of 18 billion dinars worth of government's support to the construction industry for 2011 had been spent in the previous year, while the remaining unused funds would be disbursed for that purpose in 2012.

He announced that the housing project on the site of the former military barracks Stepa Stepanovic in Belgrade, worth €40 million, would be completed in 2012.

Dulic also announced the construction of 1,700 affordable flats in 12 cities, worth a total of approximately €30 million.

- This affordable housing program employed approximately 80,000 construction workers in 2011 - Dulic said and added that he expected that they would have enough work to do during 2012 as well.
