Strand Lake awaits campers - Construction of 4,500-square-meter modern complex kicks off in Bogojevo, completion until May 2012

On the road from the Danube to Bogojevo, not far away from the border with Croatia, construction workers are already preparing Strand Lake for the next spring. The lovers of nature and outdoor vacation will be able to celebrate the May Day 2012 in a new auto camp spanning about 4,500 square meters, of which construction kicked off in mid-September.

This auto camp in the municipality of Odzaci, which is modeled after the one in Zasavica, will have two stars. A campsite, with a necessary access road, will be built beneath the poplars and on sand beaches of Strand Lake where visitors from Serbia and Croatia have been camping over the last 50 years, and each lot in this camp will have electricity and water connections.

- A total of 26 lots will be built within the complex, and each will be adapted to the standards of motorized campers. That does not mean that "traditional" camping will not be possible - all campers with a tent will be welcome here – Zoran Perak, director of the Odzaci Development Directorate, author of this project, explains for eKapija.

He adds that the auto camp will also comprise two brick buildings allowing for the visitors of this municipality in Backa to camp in accordance with the modern world standards.

- The camp will also include a reception desk, rooms where visitors will be able to prepare food and do their laundry, as well as toilets and bathrooms. We will also have a store built within the complex. Works are already underway and will continue until the weather allows it. We will do our best to have all the works on the auto camp finished until 30 April 2012, so that the citizens could camp at Strand Lake on May Day - says Zoran Perak.

The construction of this camp is backed by the Ministry of Economy of Serbia with RSD 12 million, whereas the municipality of Odzaci has provided RSD 2 million for that purpose.

In addition to places for camping houses, automobiles and tents, accompanying sports courts will also be built within the complex.

The second phase of "the largest tourist offer development project in Odzaci" should commence in mid-2012. The construction of a restaurant and 30 bungalows at Strand Lake is also in the pipeline.

- That part of the project is still under development. The auto camp, which will definitely be completed in spring, will operate independently of other facilities that we plan to build in this location - says Perak.

- In the preparation of this project, and now in its implementation as well, attention is particularly paid to maintaining a balance between the urban equipping of the area and the environment protection, and we primarily want to avoid polluting the lake. We do not want to stay without this natural resource, which has already happened in certain places in Serbia that were developing tourism without taking enough care of the nature.

As he explained, mainly local contractors participate in the construction of this auto camp.
