Kempinski in Jugoslavija as of 2013 - Hotel on Danube quay await permits for reconstruction

Permits for reconstruction of Jugoslavija hotel, which the investor Alpe Adria Hotels has been waiting for since May 2009, should be issued in the first quarter of this year. If all the necessary documentation is collected soon, a building in New Belgrade will become part of Kempinsky, one of the world's most respected luxury hotel brands, until 2013.

The new owner plans to invest between 120 and 150 million euros in the facility on the Danube quay. In addition to complete renovation of the hotel capacities, Alpe Adria Hotels will also build an additional shopping mall and a 33-floor residential and business tower.

The complex of Jugoslavija hotel, which will have five stars, will span over 150,000 square meters, including an underground parking lot for about 1,400 vehicles, while 1,200 new jobs will be created in the mall.

According to the reconstruction project, of which author is architect Goran Vojvodic, Jugoslavija hotel will have 258 rooms, instead of current 500, because the capacity will be practically cut in half for the sake of better quality.

Rooms will span a minimum of 40 square meters, while the size of suites will range between 85 and 170, that is, 260 square meters, which will be the size of the presidential suite. The hotel will also comprise fitness centers and exclusive restaurants on the ground floor, as well as on the top floor due to a fantastic view.

"The exclusive shopping mall and 33-floor residential tower are designed according to the world's highest standards and they will be part of the complex that will be unique in the Balkans in many ways", reads the investor's statement.

Jugoslavija hotel is part of Kempinski group, one of the world's largest hotel chains, since 2008.

Kempinski hotel chain is the owner and operator of an international portfolio comprising 62 hotels.

Only in Europe, there are nine hotels on the prestigious list "World's Top Hotels".

- Renovation works will return the old glory to Jugoslavija hotel, while Belgrade will stand shoulder to shoulder with capital cities world wide in the field of hotel industry - reads the statement.

Jugoslavija hotel was built in 1969 and it was one of the biggest and the most luxury hotels in the region, providing top-quality services to politicians, actors and other public persons from all around the world. The hotel initially had five stars, but it lost two of them with time.
