Free legalization?

Legalization of illegally built facilities should be made free of charge by a new law, people at the Government of Serbia confirmed for B92.

The Government of Serbia should legalize illegal construction by passing a special law, which is being prepared by the Ministry of Environment Protection and Spatial Planning.

In that way, the status of over 600,000 illegal facilities will be resolved.

As B92 learns, the Government has decided to make this move because the estimates are that more money would be collected from the property tax on legalized facilities than from the legalization itself, that is, about 1 billion euros.

The property tax obligations of the citizens who have already paid for legalization of their facilities will be reduced by the paid amount over the next few years.

Also, conversion of the developed land will be allowed so that the benefit for the state and citizens will be immeasurable.
